Camphor Demo

In January 2001 the Palmvale Community Landcare Group organised a demonstration of how-to kill Camphor Laurel using methods recommended by the Department of Land and Water Conservation (DLWC).  The day was well attended.  People from outside the Palmvale area came to see the demonstration which was carried out by Bruce Hungerford  and Gary Cox (DLWC). The demonstration was carried out on two properties in Palmvale.  The first Camphor poisoned was situated in native bushland, amongst rainforest species.  The second was a group of Camphor's close to the Christies Creek .

The methods used on the day were:

bullet

Chainsaw cuts with Roundup (neat) being injected into cuts at the base of the tree.

Another method discussed on the day, was drilling the Camphor Laurel using a cordless drill.
